Originally named Nasareth in 1846, Middelburg is a large farming and industrial town situated in the Cultural Heartlands region of Mpumalanga. Renamed Middelburg in 1872, the town is perfectly located between Pretoria and Lydenburg. Due to its close proximity to the Kruger National Park, Middelburg is popular as a stopover for visitors to the Park as well as an alternative accommodation option to the Park in season.
